The Al-Abbas's (p) fighting squad declares its readiness for the Battle of Al-Hweyjah, and reveals a new technical creation that combines air defence with shield.

The Al-Abbas's (p) fighting squad has declared the readiness of its troops and military equipment for the Battle to liberate Al-Hweyjah, indicating that its participation in the battle will be based on the guidance of the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, revealing at the same time of conducting the first operation of its kind in Iraq, an alteration and installation of a cannon calibre 57 mm on a tank T55.

This came during the field tour conducted by the general supervisor of the Al-Abbas's (p) fighting squad; Mr. Maytham Al-Zaydi in the technical workshop of the squad, and during which he was briefed about the ongoing operations to check the readiness of equipment and weapons, including Armor and advanced tanks able to crush the terrorist ISIL gangs during the battle. And at the side-lines of his tour, Mr. Al-Zaydi has inaugurated the project of modulating a cannon calibre 57 mm on a T55 tank. Al-Zaydi has described this modification as "a creation added to other creations accomplished in the technical workshop."

He also said: "Many of the squad's tanks were subject of serious damage during the Battle of Al-Bashir, and were rehabilitated to be in a new shape and with a very high strength." Adding that "the modification operation of the cannon 57 on the T55 tank is the first operation of its kind in Iraq, and therefore we call on experts in the field of military arms industry to visit the technical workshop of the squad and see this unique achievement, noting the willingness of the squad to participate in any duty entrusted to it by the general commander of the armed forces."

It is to note that the Al-Abbas's (p) fighting squad has conducted earlier a series of wide administrative procedures at the level of its most important leaderships to participate in the liberation operations of Al-Hweyja, including leaders of Al-'Alqami brigade, Um Al-Baneen brigade, and the presidency of the martyrs and wounded department of the squad.
