The Manuscript Restoration Center holds a seminar on the stages of manuscripts' maintenance.

On the 21st of Dhu al-Hijjah 1438 AH corresponding to the September 13, 2017, the Hall of Imam al-Qassem (peace be upon him) at the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine has hosted a symposium on the techniques of preserving manuscripts and sustaining them and the stages they are going through, with the participation of Dr. Rod Kaller from Germany.

The symposium witness a distinguished participation, in which the way in which this process was carried out, especially those ancient manuscripts dating from the 15th century, was discussed, focusing on how to search, analyse and identify the techniques of book after its maintenance.

Dr. Kaller expressed her satisfaction with the development of the techniques in this field that she witnessed at the holy shrine and that promises good.

Mr. Sadeq Lazem explained to al-Kafeel Network the details of this symposium: "After the success of the second al-Kafeel conference, Dr. Kaller from the Technical University in Berlin, an expert in organic materials, was invited to a tour in the al-Kafeel Museum, in which she explained how to deal with some organic materials, then she has a lecture in the Manuscripts' Center on how to maintain the manuscripts, because it is her precise speciality."

It is to note that the symposium was attended by Dr. Said Abd al-Hamid, Director of the Restoration Department in Cairo, as well as the participation of the Center for the Restoration of Manuscripts at the al-Hussayn's (p) holy shrine and the Manuscripts Restoration Center at the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine. There was also a tour to see the equipment and mechanisms used in the maintenance stages of the books.
