The Manuscripts Center at the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine adds 750 rare manuscripts to its archive.

The Manuscripts Center of the Intellectual and Cultural Affairs at the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine completed the work of imaging the manuscripts of the library of Sayed al-Hakim in Najaf, in continuation of its journey in reviving the Islamic heritage, especially the heritage of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), by imaging, indexing, cataloguing and preparing the manuscripts for the researchers. The mentioned center has imaged a new collection of manuscripts preserved in the library of Sayed al-Hakim by a specialized cadre.

Mr. Salam Mahdi Abd al-Wahab, director of the Center for the imaging and cataloguing the manuscripts at the holy shrine, explained to al-Kafeel Network about the nature of this agreement and what has been accomplished, saying: "It was agreed with the secretary-General of the General Library of al-Hakim in Najaf; Sayed Jawad al-Hakim, to image some of the written copies in the library, and we have now more than 750 images of the important manuscripts in this library, which we have photographed and saved in the archives of the Center's imaging, and thus increasing our bank of manuscripts images to about 300 thousand manuscripts from around the world. And in addition to the images, it was agreed to convert 250 microfilm tapes to the digital version through modern and advanced technology owned by the center. Each of these films contains four or five manuscripts dating back to the past centuries in various sciences."

It is noteworthy that this library is one of the leading and ancient libraries, and it is an important milestone in the holy city of Najaf for containing important and valuable sources of manuscripts, in addition to more than 250 microfilm tapes containing more than 700 rare manuscripts, which were filmed in the House of Arabic Manuscripts in Egypt, by a committee formed by the Sayed Mohsen al-Hakim at that time, because it contains a scientific and cultural heritage that benefits students of science and researchers in the Islamic heritage.
