In pictures: Crowds of visitors commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of the Holy Prophet (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household) at the shrine of his cousin and successor Imam Ali (peace be upon him).

Millions of visitors from inside and outside Iraq have commemorated the sad tragedy of the martyrdom anniversary of the Prophet of Mercy and the Seal and Master of Prophets; Mohammad (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household) at the holy shrine of his cousin and guardian Ali Ibn Abi Taleb (peace be upon both of them) to extend their condolences on this occasion amid high security and service measures by the holy shrine of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) and the security and service departments of the province.

Crowds of visitors determined to commemorate this sad occasion, have travelled from many provinces and regions, most of them on foot, since more than three days. The service procession were erected to provide the services to the visitors along the roads leading the holy city of Najaf, as well as their accommodation in the nearby residential houses. A large number of foreign visitors who did not leave Iraq since the Ziyarat Arba'een, the beginning of last week, have participated along the Iraqis in this commemoration.

It is to note that many holy narrations of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) have recommended the commemoration of this sad occasion by performing the Ziyarat of the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him).
