The al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine organizes the annual cultural festival of the Holy Prophet (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household) in cooperation with the University of Basra.

Within the national project of al-Kafeel Youth, the General Secretariat of the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine organized the annual cultural festival of the Holy Prophet (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household) on Monday morning the first of Rabi' Awwal 1439 AH corresponding to the November 20, 2017, in cooperation with the University of Basra represented by the Sciences College. The first edition of this festival was held in commemoration of the martyrdom anniversary of the Holy Prophet Mohammad (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household) in a number of the Iraqi universities.

The opening ceremony began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and reading al-Fatiha in memory of the martyrs of Iraq and the popular mobilization, followed by the national anthem and the anthem of the holy shrine "Pride's tune", and then it was the turn of the Dean of the Sciences College; Prof. Dr. Falhi Abd al-Hassan Ali in which he said: "We sincerely thank the General Secretariat of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine for the establishment of such festivals, recalling events of deep impact in the hearts of the believers, including this sad occasion, the martyrdom anniversary of the Holy Prophet Mohammad, Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household, Noting that the College with its professors and teachers and students, is ahead in many festivals and cultural and religious events. And we had the honor to participate in the service of the visitors in the Arba'een at the holy shrines and we had the honor to participate in the convoy of Iraqi universities to renew the pledge to the master of the freemen (peace be upon him)."

Adding: "Today, we participate along with the true lovers of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) in the commemoration of the martyrdom anniversary of the Holy Prophet (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household), and this festival is one of the means to this commemoration, which has the interest of the students. .."

This was follows by the word of the General Secretariat of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine delivered by the Deputy Secretary General; Engineer Bashir Mohammad Jassem al-Rabi'i, stating: "This is a good opportunity to meet with professors and students of Basra University to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of the Holy Prophet, trying to draw lessons from his blessed biography, most importantly how to excel in learning sciences and other knowledge for the service of the society. And I invite the dear students to learn from the ethics and morals of the Holy Prophet {There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent pattern for anyone whose hope is in Allah and the Last Day and [who] remembers Allah often.} So I ask everyone to participate in such annual festival and to adhere to the approach of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) making them the beacon for the diligence and seriousness."

Other activities have followed, including reading poetry about the love of the Messenger of Allah and Ahl al-Bayt (Allah's prayers be upon them), Iraq and the martyrs of he popular mobilization.

After that, the Holy Shrine and the College of Science exchanged appreciation gifts, and also the participants in this festival were honored. Then the attendees headed to open the exhibition of the al-Abbas's (p) Fighting Squad that includes pictures of the Squad's martyrs and some of the collections' items of ISIL found during the battles they waged, as well as the photo gallery of the Karbala Heritage Center and the exhibition of the al-Kafeel Museums for treasures and manuscripts.
