In pictures: The starting of the condolence ritual "Rakdhat Twayreej"

After the Dohr prayer of the tenth of the sacred month of Muharram 1442 AH corresponding to the August 30, 2020, the condolence ritual of Rakdhat [run of] Twayreej was launched, on the other hand the two holy shrines have ended the preparations for the reception of the mourners according to the plan drawn up in order to inform the mourners and to determine their path according to identifiable marks, and putting security and regulatory plan in order to accommodate the large numbers participating in Rakdhat Twayreej.

The ritual began as usual from the bridge of Al-Salam passing by the street of the Republic down to the holy shrine of Imam Al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) then passing by the area between the two holy shrines to arrive to the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, where there was a heavy security deployment in the mentioned areas. The employees of the two holy shrines are in full alert in order to end this ritual smoothly.

The run of Twayreej is a spontaneous demonstration, held by the people and clans of "Twayreej" - District of Hindiyah of the province of Karbala, 20 km to the city- to commemorate and to answer the call of Al-Hussayn the tenth day of the sacred month of Ashura "Ala min nasirin yansuruna" [is there any supporter to respond to my call for aid?]

One of the specialized centers in statistics considered it, one of the largest human gatherings in the world, unique event of its kind and a distinct and special religious ritual.

The first year of this run was 1303 AH corresponding to the year 1885, on the eve of Ashura, people gathered in the house of Sayed Saleh Al-Qazwini for the commemorations, and once they finished reading the story of the martyrdom, they spontaneously went out calling "Wa Hussayn" "Wa Hussayn" trotting in the streets of the city for supporting him. On the subsequent years, this ritual became organized, then moved to Karbala in an orderly way after the noon prayers on the tenth day, at the bridge of peace, which lies about 5km from the shrine of Imam Al-Hussayn (peace be upon him), the crowds are led by the people of Twayreej.
