The Cleanliness Division of the Service Affairs Department intensified its efforts during the Ziyarat Arba'een, in order to maintain the cleanliness of the area around the Holy Shrine, as its staff works 24 hours a day.
The official of the Cleanliness Division, Mohamad Ahmad Jawad, told al-Kafeel Network: "Since the first day of the month of Safar, the areas surrounding the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine have been divided into three sections, the first starting from the main crossbar to Qibla Street, and the second starting from the Qibla gate of the shrine of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) to the Hawra Street, and the third starts from the gate of Imam Ali al-Hadi (peace be upon him) to al-'Attareen Branch and the area between the two Holy Shrines."
He added: "We have provided all the supplies needed by the staff of the Cleanliness Division, in order to provide services to the visitors to the fullest, and 700 volunteers were recruited to work with our cadres, divided into two shifts: the first from (7 am) to (7 pm), The second is from (7 pm) to (7 am)."
He pointed out: "We set about 85 large-sized garbage containers in the main streets leading to the Holy Shrine, and 80 other containers of medium size in the vicinity of the Holy Shrine."
Jawad explained, "Coordination has been made between the Cleanliness Division and the processions on al-Abbas Street, on how to collect waste, as we have provided these processions with large numbers of garbage bags, so that waste collection can be controlled."
The Cleanliness Division official noted, "We have also prepared the basement floors of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, to house volunteers who came from different cities of Iraq to serve the visitors during Ziyarat Arba'een, and the staff of our division is carrying out other service efforts in cooperation with the rest of the holy shrine's departments."
