The Cataloging and Information Systems Center attended the activities of the Sharjah International Conference on Libraries

The eighth edition of the Sharjah International Conference of the libraries of the United Arab Emirates -currently held at the Expo Center - witnessed the presence of the Cataloging and Information Systems Center of the Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs at the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, which is held on the sidelines of Sharjah International Book Fair in 2021 with the presence of librarians from all over the world, to discuss new trends and technologies in library management, and to enhance cooperation relations at the level of expanding databases, developing leadership skills, and developing new services for local communities.

Official of the delegation of the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine and Director of the Center, Mr. Hassanein al-Moussawi explained to the Al-Kafeel Network: "The presence in this global library gathering is important to us, in order to introduce what the library and house of manuscripts at the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine have reached, and also to see what was reached in this field as well as giving us the opportunity to meet on the ground with representatives of major libraries in the world, at the same time allowing us to communicate virtually with participating guests via the Zoom platform."

He added, "The presence in such conferences is beneficial as it embodies the effectiveness of cooperation and joint work with cultural institutions in the world, and its impact on creating opportunities for knowledge exchange, developing the expertise and experiences of workers in the sector of industry and knowledge production and achieve integration in visions and goals towards building a sustainable and active future of libraries and able to contribute to development projects and work in contrast to the work of our libraries."

It is noteworthy that the conference witnessed the participation of experts and specialists from the major libraries in the world, and a number of workshops were organized that presented a clear visualization of the future of knowledge for librarians in the Arab region. It is taking place after the Corona pandemic, and major changes have been imposed in the work and roles of libraries, and amendments have been introduced that will play a major role in anticipating the future working mechanisms of libraries.
