The Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine organized on Saturday evening, the first central graduation ceremony for Iraqi university students, which was held in the courtyard of the Al-Ameed Educational Complex, with the presence of His Eminence the Senior Official of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine; Sayed Ahmad al-Safi, its secretary-general; Sayed Mustafa Mortadha Dhea’ al-Din, a number of members of its board of directors, heads of departments and a representative of the Imam al-Hussayn’s (p) Holy Shrine. The ceremony was also attended by the governor of Karbala, engineer Nassif Jassim al-Khattabi, as well as the representative of the Ministry of higher education and scientific research, Prof. Dr. Hamid Tamimi, in addition to a number of university presidents and deans of colleges participating in the ceremony.

The ceremony began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran recited by the reciter of the two holy shrines, Sayed Hassanein al-Helu, followed by the reading of Surah Al-Fatiha in memory of the righteous martyrs of Iraq, and then listening to the national anthem and the hymn of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine (the pride’s melody).

After that, the speech of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine was delivered by the head of the Department of education and higher education, Dr. Ahmad Sabih al-Kaabi.

This was followed by a speech by the Ministry of higher education, delivered by its representative at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Hamid Tamimi, through which he congratulated the graduate students, wishing them good luck in their future professional careers and in serving the country, and thanked the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine for holding this ceremony, which reflects the clear image of the Iraqi student, away from the offensive image issued on social networking sites.

There was a speech for the graduating students delivered on their behalf by the student Mahmoud Hani from the University of Mosul.

The ceremony included a recital of poems, in which both the poet Ali al-Saffar and the poet Mohammed al-Fatimi participated.

After that, the graduate students sang their anthem (our share of success).

The ceremony concluded by honoring the representatives of the universities participating in the ceremony and all those who contributed to its success.
