The Department of Manufacturing the Grids and Doors of the Holy Shrines, affiliated with the Al-Abbas's (P) Holy Shrine, has started manufacturing the grids of the basements of Imam al-Hussayn and Imam al-Jawad (peace be upon them).
The head of the Department; Sayed Nadhem al-Ghurabi, said that "the first work after the approval of the designs, which were carried out in harmony with the grid of the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him), included the manufacture of the wooden structure of the grid, while the work continues to manufacture some of its metal parts such as the balls and handles of the knotworks".
Al-Ghurabi added that the manufacturing process goes through several manufacturing stages according to each part and piece, and one of the important stages is the wooden structure, which is the starting point for installing each piece of metal.
The carpentry technicians in the Department harnessed their potential for this work, to implement it with all craftsmanship and according to the design outputs and using materials of high quality and efficiency such as the best types of wood, and choosing an accurate installation method that suits the weights that will be installed on it.
He explained that the wood used is Burmese, which has many advantages, including its resistance to various environmental conditions such as moisture and others, and its high degree of tolerance to loads and weights, as the raw wood was formed and cut according to the dimensions of the structure, under the supervision of a technical staff, to carry out technical and engineering operations according to the required measurements, and the durability and craftsmanship of the work with this structure was twice as much as the old structure.
