The Senior Official of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine; Sayed Ahmad al-Safi, stressed the need to document what happened in Mosul during the ISIS era, during his reception by the president of the University of Mosul.
Sayed al-Safi said," it is necessary to document what happened during the era of ISIS, because we are eyewitnesses to the destruction and brutality suffered by our Iraqi people, "noting that"the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine greatly sought to document this era and issued 62 volumes, which were printed and distributed to most research centers."
He added, "Mosul must have a special case of documentation, expressing the readiness of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine to cooperate with the University of Mosul in this regard," and his eminence suggested "to establish a museum documenting the crimes of ISIS through photos and the living effects of destruction inflicted on the city and the University, considering that Mosul is the first city that fell at the beginning of the ISIS attack."
With regard to the prospects of joint cooperation, the Senior Official of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine directed "to constantly hold festivals and cultural events in cooperation with the University of Mosul to contribute to bringing this scientific edifice back to the forefront again".
For his part, the rector of the University of Mosul; Dr. Qusay Kamal al-Din al-Ahmadi, said, "We need to prove and document everything that the ISIS terrorist organization did at the University of Mosul, and pass it on to future generations, to be a witness to the bad and barbaric events that took place, represented by the destruction of scientific literature estimated at about a million books from various disciplines, as well as the destruction of the infrastructure of the University and the city in general."
"We want to transfer the experience of the projects of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine to Mosul, and we hope that the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine will have a huge project that will benefit the people of the city and contribute to its renaissance again,"he added.
