A medical team at the Al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital in Karbala ended the suffering of a patient suffering from chronic inflammation of the sigmoid colon.
A specialist in colorectal surgery at the hospital, Dr. Ahmed al-Haj, "a patient in the fourth decade reviewed us suffering from chronic pain in the lower left abdomen for more than a year, and after the analysis and taking a CT Scan and colored rays of the colon, it turned out that he suffers from sigmoid colitis (diverticulosis of the colon)".
"The inflammation was recurrent and chronic and caused fibrosis of this part of the colon with ulcers, chronic infections and abscess around the colon,"he said.
According to Al-Haj, the patient underwent an endoscopic operation with high accuracy through four small holes in the abdominal wall, cut off the damaged part of the sigmoid colon and connect its healthy part with the rectum with a loop stapler," explaining that "the operation was successful and the patient recovered and left the hospital in good health."
