The staffs of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine have started developing part of the northern green belt project, on a distance of 4 kilometers.

The agricultural supervisor on the project, Mr. Abbas Mohammed al-Baghdadi, said that "the northern green belt project is an extension of the southern belt project, and the staffs of the holy shrine have begun to develop a distance of (4) kilometers, divided on both sides of the (Karbala – Baghdad) road".

"As part of the first step, we have started removing waste, leveling the land, dividing it into plots and specific areas, and building an administrative complex consisting of many halls for administrative staff and workers, to be the basis for working on the project,"he added.

He explained that"the agricultural works witnessed the completion of an oasis containing fountains, green spaces, and it was determined by a paved main road, in addition to planting palm trees with specific distances according to the prepared plan".

He pointed out that" the northern green belt project depends on its irrigation on the enclosed water basin, "pointing to"resorting to drilling wells in the future for the purpose of providing water continuously, to face its scarcity during the summer season."
