The Vatican ambassador to Iraq praises the projects of the Al-Abbas's (P) Shrine and its humanitarian positions

The Vatican ambassador to Iraq, Bishop Mitja Leskovar, praised the projects of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine and its humanitarian positions.

This came during his visit with his accompanying delegation to the holy city of Karbala and its holy shrines, and listened to an explanation about some projects of the Holy Shrine to serve visitors and society, by the head of the public relations department, Mr. Mohammed Ali Azhar, and the assistant head of the media department, Mr. Jassam al-Saidi.

The ambassador was briefed on the humanitarian role of the Al-Abbas's (p) Shrine in serving displaced people from various spectrums of Iraqi society, its roles during the war on terrorist organizations and previous crises, and its projects that were the focus of praise and attention by the Papal Delegation, describing them as useful and good for citizens and achieved peace and stability.

I have been trying for a long time to come to Holy Karbala and today we have achieved our endeavor, as I am one of a group of people of different religions and ethnicities from inside and outside Iraq, we come here to pray for peace for our families and for the nations, said Leskovar.

He added that we reviewed a number of development and humanitarian projects of the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, and their great roles because they created job opportunities for Iraqis to rely on themselves without the need for import, and this indicates the potential that Iraqis have in work, learning and production.

The delegation stressed that they will return to visit the holy city of Karbala because of its status and symbolism among all peoples, and distinguished humanitarian positions with all sects of the Iraqi people, including Christians.
