The project of the manufacture of the new shrine's grid of Aba Al-Fadl Al-Abbas (peace be upon him) progresses a tangible way with rapid steps that go along with the phases planned to accomplish it, as after the completion of the manufacturing of the pieces of the lateral columns' crowns (the four columns that surround the grid), they were directly installed on the top of each lateral corner of wooden structure of the grid, which are one of the its complementary and aesthetic parts, as each column is based on a silver anvil installed earlier, according to what has explained to the Al-Kafeel Network by the goldsmith Hajj Ra'd Hussayn Al-Khafaji; the director of the factory of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine for the manufacture of holy shrines and sanctuaries' grids.
He added: "These pieces were manufactured in the smithing workshops of the manufacturing of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine with specifications of high durability, quality and accuracy, the thickness of each crown is of 5mm with a weight of 2,5 Kg, which is five times the weight of the previous one of the current grid. Its length is of 21 cm and a radius of 10 cm, manufactured of pure silver of 999 carat blended by 2% with pure gold to give it a specific lustre and a greater resistance against blackening."
It is to mention that we kept for the new grid the same overall structure and engravings of the current one, with few additions, upgrades and modifications, because of its uniqueness design comparing to the grids of the whole world's holy shrines. Noting that the current grid was made in 1964 with funding from the supreme religious authority - at the time - The grand Ayatollah Sayed Mohsen Al-Hakeem. And, that the new grid of the shrine of the Master Aba Al-Fadl Al-Abbas (peace be upon him) was manufactured in the workshops of the crafts' factory belonging to the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine with high quality, durability and accuracy. In fact it is the first grid which is entirely manufactured in Iraq with Iraqi handicrafts-men. It is also characterized by the originality of its engravings and decorations in addition to the fact that it keeps the same overall structure and engravings of the old one, with few additions, upgrades and modifications, because of its uniqueness design comparing to the grids of the holy shrines in Iraq and in the Islamic world.
