An expatriate Iraqi doctor presents an integrated medical program for the management of the Al-Kafeel Specialist Hospital..

In the light of the program of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine in support of the Iraqi competences and expertise within and outside the country, and with the presence of the President of the Shiite Endowment Sayed Saleh Al-Haydari, a number of the holy shrine officials and representatives of the executing company of the project of Al-Kafeel Specialist Hospital, a conference was held at the hall of Imam Al-Qasem (peace be upon him) at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, hosting the expatriate Iraqi Doctor "Muhammad Baqer Al-Ta'i", a qualified Iraqi immigrant who, has a proven track record of many achievements at local and global level. He presented the medical and administrative restructuring of the Al-Kafeel Specialist Hospital of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, which reached its final completion stages. And in order to create an integrated team that will manage its medical and administrative system commensurate its high standard and the level of its equipments, which come from the most known international companies, and the latest equipments used in the international hospitals, as he was briefed on the hospital, all its departments and its equipments.

Dr. Mohammed Baqer Al-Ta'i explained after giving a brief introduction about himself: "After reviewing the Al-Kafeel Specialist Hospital of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, I found it -Thanks to God- an integrated hospital in all aspects, and it is of high-level like the hospitals we find in the West in terms of the design and the imported equipments. I have checked the equipments and found them at the highest levels of very known companies in the markets such as GE, Siemens, Stores and other. And, for a high level and well equipped hospital, the working staff in it should be also of high level."

Adding: "The Iraqi doctors outside Iraq have achieved high levels of expertise and are professors, heads of departments and university lecturers. We should be proud of them, and we can use their expertise to establish centres at the highest levels in Iraq that can be a treatment, training and education hub in the Middle east, instead of letting patients and doctors travel abroad to get the treatment and the training."

Then, he launched a quick overview of the hospital visions and an explanation of the distribution mechanism of the administrative functions of his staff, starting with core disciplines: cardiology, general surgery, paediatrics, gynaecology, emergency, neurology, stem-cells medicine and other specialities, with the possibility of training young doctors with the modern methods in medicine. And added: "This hospital may be a training and education centre for doctors after specialization, and there is also the possibility of creating a nursing college attached to the hospital to train nurses a high scientific, ethic and professional level to serve the patients. It should also attract doctors of high level of expertise to be heads of departments, and it is possible to let the graduates medicine students to be assistant doctors, and I prefer the Iraqi doctors living abroad because they are the bridge between the West and the East."

Dr. Al-Ta'i has also given a practical vision for the hospital, which will be the first centre in the Middle East for the treatment of switching the valve using the catheter without opening the chest, which is a modern method in the use of modern medical technology, as well as tightening the valve and converting the blood steam in the arteries without any surgical operation. There will be also the conduction of heart surgeries with laparoscope, in addition to other medical equipments to open the cervical artery also without any surgical intervention with the use of ultrasound.

The conference was concluded with a set of queries and questions by the audience, which Dr. Al-Ta'i has answered and explained what needed to be clarified. It is to note that Dr. Al-Ta'i was born in Al-Kadhimiyah in Baghdad, he completed the secondary school in 1966 with high degrees, which enabled him to enter to the faculty of Medicine / University of Baghdad, from which he got his degree in 1972, then he emigrated to Britain in 1976 and got his speciality in general surgery. In 1980 he went to the United Stated and worked as heart surgeon in the states of New Jersey and Manhattan. And since 1991 to the present day, he is working as specialist in heart, cardiovascular and thoracic surgery.
