The people of Karbala commemorate the demolition of the shrines of the imams of Baqi (peace be upon them)

The people of the city of Karbala commemorated the demolition of the shrines of the imams of the Baqi (peace be upon them), through various condolence activities established in cooperation with the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine.

The events are being held for the second year in a row under the slogan (Al-Baqi is our cause), and various parties, groups and bodies from the holy city of Karbala participated in them.

The activities began with a condolence March that started from the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him), and witnessed the raising of the banner of condolences of Al-Baqi in the courtyard of the Qibla gate of the holy shrine, interspersed with sad Karbala chants, as it recalled what happened to the shrines of the holy imams (peace be upon them) in al-Baqi.

Dr. Afdhal al-Shami, director of the Office of the Senior Official of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, said that "the people of Karbala, for the second year in a row, are commemorating the sad anniversary of the demolition of the tombs of the holy imams (peace be upon them) in Baqi through a unified condolences procession, renewing their demand for the need to build those honorable shrines".

He added that"the demand to build the graves of the imams (peace be upon them) will be sent to the Iraqi Council of Representatives, to take its way to the official authorities in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia to seek to achieve that demand".

For his part, the official of the condolences procession of the Baqi to the people of Karbala; Sayed Laith Hamad al-Kashwan, said that "the procession was established last year in cooperation with the holy shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and al-Abbas (peace be upon them) and a number of parties of the holy city of Karbala and its varieties and bodies".

He pointed out that"the procession starts every year from one side of the city to offer condolences on this sad anniversary and renew the demand for the reconstruction of the graves of the imams of Baqi (peace be upon them)".

The march concluded its activities by offering condolences and consolations on this sad anniversary, and holding a condolence Council at the shrine of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him), during which the preacher explained the injustice the imams of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) were subjected to in their lives and after their martyrdom.
