The holy city of Karbala witnessed today the influx of mourning processions to the holy shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and al-Abbas (peace be upon them) to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Imam al-Hassan al-Askari (peace be upon him).
The assistant head of the Department of Hussayni Rituals and Processions at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, engineer Mohammed Al-Tawil, said that "the mourning processions started with condolence marches that roamed the streets of the city to extend condolences to Imam al-Hussayn and his brother Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon them) on the sad anniversary, while the holy shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and al-Abbas (peace be upon them) have developed an integrated plan to receive processions and crowds of mourners.
He added that"the people of Karbala used to commemorate the occasions of Ahl Al-Bayt (peace be upon them), including the martyrdom anniversary of Imam al-Hassan al-Askari (peace be upon him), in commemoration of the sad occasion".
Al-Tawil explained that"the condolence processions headed towards the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) to extend condolences, and then to the shrine of the Master of martyrs (peace be upon him), passing through the square between the Two Holy Shrines, to conclude the condolences procession in the courtyard of the Imam al-Hussayn's (p) Holy Shrine".
The believers extended their condolences to Imam al-Hujjah (may Allah hasten his holy reappearance), the religious authorities and the Islamic nation, stressing the continuation of reviving the occasions of Ahl Al-Bayt (peace be upon them) and renewing the covenant to follow the approach taken by the family of the prophet (may Allah's prayers be upon them).
