The Holy Quran Institute of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine participates distinctly in the Third Annual International Quranic Festival of Sa'eed Ibn Jubayr (May Allah be pleased with him)..

Among the Quranic events in which the Holy Quran Institute of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine participates distinctly is the Annual International Quranic Festival of Sa'eed Ibnu Jubayr (May Allah be pleased with him) held by the Province of Wasit in collaboration with the holy shrines of Imam Al-Hussayn and Al-Abbas (peace be upon both of them), and which activities last for four days at the shrine of the faithful companion Sa'eed Ibnu Jubayr (May Allah be pleased with him) with the participation of eleven countries.

The institute has participated in this Quranic ceremony along with a selection of international Quran readers such as Sayed. Mohamed Jawad Hussayni from Iran, Mohamed Afdal Imani from Pakistan, and Ahmad Al-Najafi from Iraq as well as Sayed. Hasaneyn Al-Helo from the Holy Quran Institute of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine. During this ceremony, Sayed 'Alaa Deen Al-Hassani has delivered the word of both holy shrines of Imam Al-Hussayn and Al-Abbas (Peace be upon both of them) in which he emphasized the importance of such Quranic events that are an important way to disseminate the Quranic culture among the members of the community, and this attendance is a clear evidence of the relationship with the Quran, which promises of a brighter Quranic tomorrow. The ceremony included a participation of the reader Seraj Muneer Basheer who has chanted few poems and stanzas.

It is noteworthy that the governor of Wasit Mr. Malek Khalaf Al-Wadi has stated: "The establishment of the Holy Quran Festival during these circumstances and with the important participation of many countries, gives a positive impression and shows that Iraq is the focus of attention of the international community along with the religious, intellectual and cultural figures who find in it the creativity atmosphere far from the language of violence and sectarianism promoted by others."

Adding: "The program of this festival includes the establishment of Quranic evenings in many areas such as Al-Kut, Al-Hayy, Al-Nu'manyah and Badrah. As well as the establishment of a Quranic contest between the readers from the participating countries. And that the festival was marked by sessions in the Wasit University to present research relating to the personality and the biography of the companion Sa'eed Ibn Jubayr."

It is worth mentioning that the Companion Sa'eed Ibn Jubayr Al-Asdi (may Allah be pleased with him) was born in the time of Imam Ali Ibn Abi Taleb (peace be upon both of them) in 46 AH, from an Ethiopian origin, he studied religion sciences and lived in Kufa until he became a scholar. He was famous by his piety and asceticism and he was one of the companions of Imam Zayn Al-Abideen Ali son of Al-Hussayn (peace be upon both of them), he was killed by Al-Hajjaj Ibn Yusuf At-Thaqafi in 95 AH. Al-Kashi and Al-Tusi considered him as a disciple of Imam As-Sajjad (peace be upon him). Sa'eed Ibn Jubayr (may Allah be pleased with him) excelled in many sciences and it was said about him: “There is no one on earth who would not need the science of Ibn Jubayr." His shrine is located in the Al-Hay district at the southern of Al-Kut city in the centre of Wasit Province (180 km south of Baghdad).
