The Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine continues the process of organizing, analyzing and archiving more than 500 thousand original and illustrated documents dating back to different eras.
The archival work is supervised by the Center for manuscript photography and cataloguing of the Department.
The director of the historical documents department at the center, Mr. Mohammed Baqer al-Zubaidi, said:"the work of the manuscripts photography center aims to increase the documentary storage at the holy shrine, as it organizes staff with advanced expertise and modern technologies that enable them to archive, analyze and organize documents.
He added that "the center is working on archiving precious original and photocopied documents, and characterizing them based on their content and multiple topics, through a model mechanism that contributes to helping researchers and specialists to facilitate research and thorough study of documents".
"We seek to analyze the largest number of historical and Islamic manuscripts, and make them within the Electronic Research Program, which is represented by the quality program for electronic archiving and make them available to those interested, while providing a suitable storage environment for them,"al-Zubaidi continued.
