Al-Abbas's (P) Shrine launches the activities of the International Award competition for vertical poetry

The Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine has launched the tenth edition of the World Poetry Competition.

The competition was organized by the Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs at the holy shrine in cooperation with Al-Kafeel University, under the slogan (Al-Joud is the Qiblah of poets and the message of redemption), and is held annually in conjunction with the death anniversary of Lady Umm al-Baneen(peace be upon her).

The events held in the imam Hassan Hall(peace be upon him) inside the Al-Abbas's (p) shrine witnessed the presence of the Senior Official of the holy shrine; Sayed Ahmad al-Safi, its secretary general; Sayed Mustafa Mortada Aal Dia-Uddin, a number of its officials, and a gathering of writers, academic, interested in literary and Cultural Affairs, and poets with ten winning poems.

The events began with a beautiful recitation of the verses of the Holy Quran, followed by a speech by the general secretariat of the Al-Abbas's(P) holy shrine, delivered by its board member Dr. Abbas al-Deda al-Mousawi, in which he stressed that the tenth world quality competition for the vertical poem embodies the personality of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas(Peace be upon him) with its supreme virtues, altruism and loyalty, inspired by his honorable legacy and the biography of his mother, Lady Umm Al-Baneen (Peace be upon him), he also addressed the importance of the competition in promoting poetic creativity and refining talents, and its active role in reviving poetry and encourage poets to creativity and excellence.

The events include honoring the poets with the 10 winning poems in the competition, out of the 63 poems by poets who participated from many Arab and Islamic countries.

The prizes of the competition were represented by the first winner receiving an amount of (3,000,000) Iraqi dinars, (2,000,000) Iraqi dinars for the second winner, and(1,500,000) Iraqi dinars for the third winner, while the winners from the fourth to the tenth will receive (1,000,000) Iraqi dinars.

The competition aims to create a poetry competition in order to demonstrate the great status of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas(peace be upon him), and to push specialists in the field of vertical poetry from the elites with a spotless history known for seriousness and sobriety in purpose and content, and to demonstrate the great care that the general secretariat of the Al-Abbas's(P) holy shrine has for everything related to Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him).
