The Al-Abbas's (P) holy shrine holds a preparatory meeting to discuss preparations for “the Pain Memory” conference in Iraq

The Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine held a preparatory meeting to discuss preparations for a conference (memory of pain in Iraq: a century of crimes, genocides, massacres and violations).

The conference will be held under the auspices of the holy shrine, in the holy city of Karbala on April 16 and 17.

The meeting was chaired by the director of the Office of the Senior Official of the holy shrine, Mr. Jawad Al-Hasnawi, in the presence of the scientific committees of the conference.

Dr. Abbas Al-Quraishi, head of the Iraqi Center for documenting extremist crimes of the Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs at the holy shrine, said: "the committees of the international scientific conference marked by the memory of pain in Iraq, held an expanded meeting to discuss the duties assigned to them to establish the conference and determine the recommendations that will come out."

He added that"the conference will review the memory of the pain experienced by Iraq through different eras, starting from the British occupation through successive political regimes to the American occupation, the crimes of terrorist organizations, the massacres committed against minorities of the Iraqi people, and work to find remedies to prevent the recurrence of these tragedies in the future".

For his part, Dr. Hussein al-Ziyadi, a member of the scientific committee of the conference, stated that "the meeting discussed many important topics, most notably how to receive and evaluate research, as well as issues related to receiving researchers from inside and outside, as well as the participation of state institutions and other departments such as the martyrs and prisoners Foundation and others, which will have a prominent role in the success of the conference".

He pointed out that"the conference will establish a great Iraqi national memory by documenting the tragedies, wars and violations that the Iraqi people went through objectively and credibly through the research that will be presented in it".

For his part, the director of the Directorate of Documents and Archives at the Martyrs Foundation, Dr. Moayed al-Saadi, stressed that "the conference holds great importance reflecting the reality of the Iraqi people and their suffering in different periods of time," expressing his hope to achieve the desired goals and provide solid scientific research that contributes to supporting research fields in Iraqi or regional universities."
