Lovers and followers of Ahl Al-Bayt (Peace be upon them) commemorate on the 29th of Dhu Al-Qi'dah the sad and painful tragedy that befell on the Prophecy house in 220 AH, when Al-Mu'tasim Al-'Abbasi committed the greatest crime of his time against Islam and Muslims, grieving the hearts of the Messenger of Allah (prayers and Allah's peace be upon him and his holy Household), Lady Fatima Az-Zahra (peace be upon her) and the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) by assassinating one of the Imams of Ahl Al-Bayt (peace be upon them).
Al-Mu'tasim has tried numerous times to assassinate Imam Al-Jawad (peace be upon him), and he has chosen in his last try to kill the ninth moon of the guiding Imams (peace be upon them) his niece Umm Al-Fadhl the daughter of Al-Ma'mun and wife of the Imam to execute his crime, as her father previously has exploited her severe jealousy many times to incite her to kill the Imam (peace be upon him).
It is stated by Abu Nasr Al-Hamadani: "It is narrated by Abu Ja'far that the cause of the martyrdom of the Imam (peace be upon him) is when his wife Umm Al-Fadhl daughter of the cursed Ma'mun was jealous of the other wife of the Imam who gave birth of his son Ali Al-Hadi (peace be upon him), she then fed her husband the Imam Al-Jawad (peace be upon him) nineteen poisoned grapes. In a short while he felt the effect of poison inside him and an intense pain took him over. The disgraced woman began to cry, Imam Al-Jawad (peace be upon him) asked her: “Why are you crying? Now that you are killing me, your crying is of no use. Know that in these few days of your worldly life, the Almighty Allah will inflict such ailment on you and you will find yourself in such a state that you will not be able to relieve yourself from.” She was afflicted afterwards of an illness and she spent all her fortune to get healed until she needed people to support her."
Imam Al-Jawad (peace be upon him) after eating the poison started vomiting fresh blood so he threw himself on the bed and started moving right and left until he threw pieces of his liver, and he (peace be upon him) died oppressed martyr, and once the Hashemites and Alawites from Aal Adnan knew it, weeping and wailing sounds raised in his house, as all of them started crying with loud voices along with the Shia who were howling in deep grief: O Imam, O Al-Jawad, O supporter of orphans and poor and shelter of the lost..
The Holy Imam (peace be upon him) was martyred in Baghdad at the end of Dhu Al-Qi'dah, in the year 220 A.H in the heyday of his youth, and with his martyrdom one of the lights of the guidance, righteous leadership extinguished and one of the truthful Islamic message pages was folded after that it has enlightened the thought, knowledge and virtue on earth. He (peace be upon him) was buried in the graveyard of Quraish adjacent of his grandfather, Imam Al-Kadhem (peace be upon them) the seventh holy Imam. His son the 10th Imam, Imam Hadi (Peace be upon him) buried him.
Peace be upon you, O son of Imam Ar-Reda! Peace be upon you O the pious, bright, pleasing and pleased Imam! O Allah's Argument against all those who are on earth and those who are beneath the ground! O Master of believers Muhammad ibn Ali Al-Jawad! Peace be upon you the day you were born, the day you were poisoned and left on the roof of your house martyr, and the day you will raise alive!
