A medical team at Al-Kafeel Hospital successfully saved a child from complications of a complex femur fracture

A specialised team in orthopaedic, fracture, and joint surgery at Al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital in Karbala managed to treat an eight-year-old girl after she suffered serious complications due to a femur fracture.

The head of the medical team, Dr. Hossam Ajami, said that the radiological examinations showed the presence of an osteoma inside the neck of the bone, which caused the fracture and the deterioration of the condition.

He added that advanced tests using a spiral CT scan revealed that the tumour was of the bony type, which necessitated the development of a precise treatment plan.

He explained that the team successfully removed the tumour completely and replaced the damaged part with advanced synthetic bone, in addition to stabilising the fracture with a closed plate to ensure bone stability and accelerate the recovery process.

Ajami confirmed that the operation was successful, praising the efforts of the medical team, and pointing out that early diagnosis and the use of modern techniques are essential factors in treating complex cases, especially bone tumours and injuries at a young age.
