The Kafeel Museum delegation learns about the methods of preserving and documenting manuscript heritage at the Imam ar-Redha's (p) Holy Shrine

A delegation from the Kafeel Museum of Treasures and Manuscripts at the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine reviewed advanced experiences in the fields of manuscript preservation and documentation at the Manuscript Center and the Central Public Library affiliated with the Imam ar-Redha's (p) Holy Shrine in the city of Mashhad.

The assistant head of the department, Dr. Shawqi Al-Mousawi, said: "The delegation conducted a visit to the Manuscript Center and the Central Library to have an on-site review of the unique preserved models of Quranic and historical manuscripts that represent a rare Islamic heritage."

Al-Moussawi added that "the visit included an overview of the Manuscript Center's collections, its technical laboratories, and its exhibition halls. It also featured a display of a collection of valuable manuscripts within the central library, in addition to a number of Arabic, Persian, and foreign books that are considered important and specialized sources and references in various fields. The library, alongside these sources, houses 59,000 precious manuscripts, including 22,000 Quranic manuscripts distributed across its sections."

He explained, "The visit included a meeting with the head of the Libraries, Museums, and Documentation Center, Mr. Jalal Al-Husseini, who confirmed that the institutions affiliated with the Imam ar-Redha's (p) Holy Shrine house Islamic treasures of global historical and civilizational significance, expressing his appreciation for the efforts of the Kafeel Museum in this field."

Al-Moussawi confirmed that this step comes in the context of supporting efforts to preserve manuscript heritage and exchange technical expertise in managing major libraries and documentation centers, serving the aspirations of the Kafeel Museum in preserving and documenting historical treasures according to the latest scientific standards.
