The people of the city of Karbala, in cooperation with the holy shrines of Imam Al-Hussayn and Al-Abbas (peace be upon them), organized the mourning flag-raising ceremony on the death anniversary of Lady Zaynab Al-Kubra (peace be upon her).

The ceremonies were held at the Bab al-Qibla of the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him), in the presence of a number of officials from the two holy shrines, representatives from the various sides of Karbala and its processions and organizations, and a group of mourning visitors.

The flag-raising ceremony began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by a speech from the two holy shrines and the people of Karbala, delivered by Sheikh Muhammad Al-Kariti, in which he touched upon aspects of the life of Lady Zaynab Al-Hawra (peace be upon her) and what she endured at the hands of the oppressors.

The head of the Intellectual and Cultural Affairs Department at the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, Mr. Aqeel Al-Yasiri, said: "The people of Karbala, under the auspices of the two holy shrines, commemorated the death anniversary of Lady Zaynab Al-Kubra (peace be upon her) by organizing the blessed mourning flag-raising ceremony at the gate of the Qibla of her brother Aba Al-Fadl Al-Abbas (peace be upon him)."

In the same context, the caretaker of the Karbala residents' mourning procession, Mr. Laith Al-Kishwan, said: "The flag-raising ceremony is being held for the second consecutive year and included organizing a mourning procession that started from the Bab Al-Qibla of the shrine of Aba Al-Fadl Al-Abbas (peace be upon him), passing through the area between the two holy shrines, and concluded at the shrine of Abu Abdillah Al-Hussayn (peace be upon him)."

The events included holding a mourning assembly and reciting elegiac poems that recalled the sacrifices of Lady Zaynab (peace be upon her) amidst an atmosphere of sorrow and grief that enveloped the attendees.
