Within the reconstruction campaign and the ongoing development in the al-abbas's (p) holy shrine, which gives elegance and beauty to this edifice. And to pursuit the project to strengthen the external walls of the shrine of Aba Al-Fadl Al-Abbas (peace be upon him) included within the project of roofing the holy shrine of Aba Al-Fadl Al-Abbas (peace be upon him), after the completion of the strengthening a gilding works on the columns that were taking place in parallel with other works of strengthening the wall of the shrine from the western side face to the gates of Imam Al-Hussayn and the Owner of the Time (peace be upun both of them). In addition to the wall of the shrine in the eastern side face to the gate of Euphrates ('alqami), which has been completed, to let the works continue on the wall of the southern side face to the gate of Imam Al-Jawad (peace be upon him), which have reached advanced stages, accoridng to Engineer Hameed Majeed Al-Sa'egh; the managing director of the executive company (Ard Al-Qods company).
He added: "The project implemented under the direct supervision of the Engineering Projects Department at the Al-Abbas' (p) holy shrine, came in order to increase the durability ability of the shrine's wall to bear the weights resulting from the works of roofing, and to strengthen and repair the wall that was constructed since centuries, to make it able to bear the weights of of the new roof with its annexes, based on the studies made on the wall recently, which proved its weakness to bear the new roof, and to strengthen its bearing force, as well as to repair many parts of the old damaged Kashi Karbalai because of the time, weather conditions and the neglect policy in the former regime."
Mr. As-Sa'egh continued: "The project included at first the uprooting of the old Kashi Karbalai and removing the stucco and the old linking materials to reach the orginal wall, then repair it from outside and treating its damages and crackings, followed by the works of strengthening the original wall with a supporting concrete wall and an entire iron structure for all the parts of the gates, the internal arches and the surrounding Quranic inscriptions on top of the wall and its columns, with a thickness determined as necessary in proportion to the dimensions of the wall. These two walls are linked by iron rods to be one piece, to allow later the works of the installation of streaky Kashi Karbalai, same type used in all corridors of the holy shrine, to ensure the artistic and engineering symmetry."
It is to mention that works of the shrine's expansion project of Aba Al-Fadl Al-Abbas (peace be upon him) including its roofing, continue at an accelerated pace, passing through several stages according its designed and executive plan. And most of its parts have been completed to cope with the project of strengthening the wall of the holy shrine to complement it.
