With the arrival of the month of Muharram.. Replacing the lighting of the shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and his brother Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon them) with the red color

The shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and his brother Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon them) witnessed the replacement of their lighting from green to red with the arrival of the month of Muharram.

The lighting replacement also included the area between the two holy shrines and the streets leading to the two holy shrines.

This step coincided with the ceremony of replacing the flags of the two holy shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and his brother Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon them) from red to black, announcing the arrival of the months of mourning and commemorating the tragedy of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them) in the painful event of Ashura.

The holy city of Karbala witnessed a large influx of visitors from inside and outside Iraq to participate in the ceremonies of the flag replacement and the commemoration of the first night of the month of Muharram.

The holy shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and al-Abbas (peace be upon them) have prepared a comprehensive plan to commemorate this occasion, which includes organizing the flag replacement ceremonies and providing the necessary services for the visitors arriving in the holy city.

The ceremonies of changing the lighting and replacing the flags are among the most prominent features witnessed in the city of Karbala with the arrival of the month of Muharram, as they express the atmosphere of mourning and grief that the believers experience to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Imam al-Hussayn, his family, and his companions (peace be upon them).
