The assistant head of the department, Mr. Hassan Muhammad Hashem, said, "The department continues to distribute meals to visitors, with the number of meals provided daily reaching around 50,000, distributed among breakfast, lunch, and dinner."
He added that "the distribution process takes place through three main axes, including Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas Street (peace be upon him), al-Hawraa Zainab Street (peace be upon her), and Bab Baghdad Street, in addition to the central kitchen that prepares and serves meals to the visitors."
The distribution of meals is part of a special plan prepared to serve the mourners arriving in the holy city of Karbala, to commemorate the days of the month of Muharram around the clock.
