With the participation of the Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine: Kicks off the Festival of the blessed Sha'ban uprising.

Under the auspices of the holy shrine of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him), the constitutive festival of the blessed Sha'ban uprising was launched on Monday morning the 7th of Jumada II 1438 corresponding to the 6th of March 2017 in the Hall of the Master of Guardians (peace be upon him), under the slogan: "Blood of the blessed Sha'ban uprising to bear fruit in the victories of the popular mobilization", and which is held by Karbala branch of the International Center for Fine Arts in cooperation with the notables of Karbala council. This festival is in memory of the martyrs of this blessed uprising.

The opening ceremony of the festival has included many words, including the word of Sayed Afdal al-Shami; the Assistant secretary-General of the Intellectual and Cultural Affairs. The Festival has also included the opening of an exhibition of pictures of the Sha'ban uprising martyrs, with a distinct participation of the Department of Intellectual and Cultural Affairs and the al-Kafeel Museum of valuables and manuscripts at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine through displaying a collection of photos documenting the uprising events and parts of the shrine's dome of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him), which was vandalized during this blessed uprising.

The Head of the International Center for Fine arts; Mr. Kamal al-Basha has stated to Al-Kafeel Network the following: "There are several axes on the sidelines of this festival, including: Exhibition of Fine Art held in the area between the two holy shrines, pictures exhibition, Design axis, popular and eloquent poetry axis, story axis, novel axis and movies axis. Our aim is that all artists and intellectuals participate in supporting the uprising that was forgotten during the past years, especially since this uprising was from the hearts of the Iraqi people, and this uprising was able to renew the renaissance of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him), and it was a great blow to the former regime."

It is to note that the preparatory committee of the festival has prepared an art and literary contest that is launched with the opening ceremony of the constitutive festival. The art contest includes: photographs, calligraphy, Islamic ornamentation, sculpture, expressive fine painting, drawing caricature and short films. As for the literary contest, it includes: Short story, poetry (popular and eloquent), chronicles and play texts.
