Medical evacuation teams begin implementing their plan to provide its services to the visitors of Arba'een.

The medical evacuation teams started on Thursday 12th of Safar 1439 AH corresponding to the November 2, 2017, implementing its plan to provide its services to the visitors of Arba'een of Imam Aba Abdillah al-Hussayn (peace be upon him), to rescue the visitors in case of emergency inside the holy shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) and in the areas close to it. The members of these teams gathered in the form of groups in the area of Baghdad Gate, and walked in a condolence procession towards the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine to renew the Covenant with the Owner of the holy shrine (peace be upon him), to provide the necessary services to visitors and to extend the condolences on this painful occasion and to perform the rituals of Ziyarat and supplication. This event is the starting point to their rescue work, which they have been doing for many years.

The medical evacuation teams are volunteer groups from the university students, nurses and other groups, some of whom have been subject to pre-courses in the rescue and cardiac rehabilitation, and others who have knowledge of this area.

To learn more about this program, the medical evacuation team leader Mr. Bilal Jabbar al-Khafaji, told us: "This is the starting point for medical evacuation teams participating in the Ziyarat Arba'een, who are responsible to evacuate the visitors and to provide the necessary treatment to them to rescue them, because of the intensity of congestion within the holy shrine and its surrounding areas."

And he added: "These groups were divided into medical teams, each of them is equipped with all medical equipment, in addition to a stretcher, and they are located at the entrances to the gates of the holy shrine in addition to the existence of five fixed units inside the holy shrine, two are for men and three from women. The medical detachments for men are located in the side of the gate of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) and the second near the gate of al-'Alqami.

The medical detachments for women are located between the gate of Imam Musa al-Kadhem and the gate of Imam Mohamad al-Jawad (peace be upon both of them) and the two others inside the basement for women."

It is to note that these teams have contributed during the previous Ziyarat to save the lives of hundreds of visitors and to rescue others, in order to ensure the safety of visitors and to provide the right atmosphere for the Ziyarat and to deal with critical and emergency situations that are caused by the high congestion, and to provide immediate assistance to the visitor contributing in the transfer of emergency cases t the nearest medical treatment center.
