The reward of one who goes for Ziyarat of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) on foot.

Performing the Ziyarat of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) on foot has a special reward that is different from going to his shrine using a mean of transport, and this includes all the times and all the special occasion of the Ziyarat of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him).

It is narrated that Imam as-Sadeq (peace be upon him) said: "The Almighty Allah records a thousand good deeds and erases a thousand sins for every step taken by one who performs the Ziyarat of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) on foot. He will increase their status a thousand times for every step."

And Imam as-Sadeq (peace be upon him) has also revealed, ‘If someone goes for Ziyarat on foot, for every step he takes, one virtue will be recorded in his name, one sin will be forgiven and his level will be raised one degree. Once he reaches the shrine, Allah will appoint two angels for him who will record only his good deeds and will omit his evil deeds. When he is about to depart from the shrine, the angels will bid farewell thus – O Allah’s slave your sins have been forgiven, and you are now in Allah’s party, His Prophet’s (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household) party and the Prophet’s Ahl al-Bayt (Allah's prayers be upon them) party. By Allah, you shall never have to face the Fire and you shall never be made to taste it!’

Imam as-Sadeq (peace be upon him) narrated to Bashir b. Dahhaan: ‘If any of you performs ghusl in the Euphrates and then goes for Ziyarat of Imam Hussayn (peace be upon him) with his recognition then for every time he steps on the earth and for every time he lifts his feet off the earth, he will be rewarded with 100 accepted Hajj and 100 accepted Umra and 100 battles in the company of the Holy Prophet (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his holy Household).’

He (peace be upon him) also said: "The Almighty Allah will record the reward of freeing a servant from the children of Ismail for one who performs the Ziyarat of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) on foot with every step he takes and each time he rises his foot and places it on the ground..."

And then there is a specificity of the Ziyarat Arba'een, as in addition to what was mentioned, walking towards Karbala is to remember the walk of the family of al-Hussayn (peace be upon him, which endured the pain and trouble until reaching Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) on the Arba'een, and thus the lovers of al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) bear the pains of this walk as a consolation to the family of al-Hussayn (peace be upon him).
