Director of the Karbala International Book Fair within the framework of the Festival of the Martyrdom's Spring: The fair is a cultural and knowledge activity that attempts to restore the relationship between man and the book.

The Director of the Karbala International Book Fair held within the framework of the Festival of the Martyrdom's Spring, Dr. Mushtaq al-Ali, stated: "The Karbala International Book Fair is a cultural and knowledge activity that attempts to restore the relationship between the human and the book, especially that this relationship has begun to weaken in recent times because of the unwise use of to social media."

He added: "Therefore, the two holy shrines of Imam al-Hussayn and of al-Abbas (peace be upon both of them) to contribute and participate in providing the service required for the human and strive to perpetuate the activation of this event in this edition and in the coming editions, God willing."

Al-Ali explained: "The administration of the fair made sure that this edition includes various subjects' books that target most segments of the society, from childhood to the family, men and women, academics, students and cultivated people in general, and even the general visitor."

He added: "This fair is one of the activities of the fourteenth of the World Cultural Festival of the Martyrdom's Spring, held with the participation of seven countries: Lebanon, Iran, Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Britain as well as the host country Iraq, participating with 133 publishing houses, library, institution and centers."

It is worth mentioning that the fair was opened on Sunday 28th of Rajab 1439 AH corresponding April 15, 2018 in the area between the two holy shrines and lasting for 10 days until the 8th of Sha'ban 1439 AH corresponding to April 25, 2018 on an exhibition area of more than 3000 m2.
