The supreme religious authorities call on Parliament to reconsider the situation in the country, lest Iraq slip into a cycle of violence and devastation.

The Supreme Religious Authority called on the Iraqi Council of Representatives to reconsider the situation in the country and to act in accordance with the interests of Iraq, lest the country descends into a cycle of violence and devastation.

This was one of the important points stated in the second sermon of the Friday prayers held today (2 Rabi II 1441 AH) corresponding to (29 November 2019) at the holy shrine of al-Hussayn (peace be upon him), and delivered by His Eminence Sayed Ahmad al-Safi.

And this is the text of the statement in this regard:

"Given the difficult circumstances of the country, and the apparent inability of the parties concerned to cope with developments over the past two months in order to preserve rights and blood, the House of Representatives, from which the current government emanate, is invited to reconsider its options in this regard, to react in the good of Iraq and the preservation of the blood of its sons, to avoid falling into violence, chaos and destruction.

it is also necessary to accelerate the adoption of a set of electoral laws satisfactory for the people, with a view to holding free and fair elections, which results will sincerely reflect the will of the Iraqi people. And postponing this process, which is the appropriate solution to overcome the current crisis in a peaceful and civilized manner within the framework of the Constitution, will make everyone regret it."
