Al-'Ameed and al-Kafeel Universities are among the most distinguished academic institutions in the world.

The Green Metric report for the year 2019 on sustainable development in educational and research institutions showed that the al-Kafeel and al-'Ameed universities of the Department of Education and Higher Education in the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine have been classified on the index of the most outstanding academic institutions in the world according to this classification.
The al-Kafeel University achieved the rank (17) at the level of Iraqi universities and the rank (647) at the level of international universities, and the al-'Ameed University got the rank (727) in this classification, which was contested by (780) universities from (85) countries, including (44) Iraqi University (public and private).
Green Metric is an initiative of the University of Indonesia to rank international universities, and was launched in 2010 and it depends on six basic standards, which are related to the environment and sustainability within the campus in terms of infrastructure, efficiency in energy use and reducing Greenhouse gas emissions, extent of application of the principles of integrated solid and liquid waste management, transportation and level of the educational process.
More than ten thousand academic institutions are evaluated annually according to the green universities classification, and the final index of the evaluation that includes the most superior universities is published on the website of this global classification.
It is noteworthy that the al-Kafeel and al-'Ameed universities are working hard and urging to join the international universities and achieve the first ranks, through the efforts of their academic cadres and their persevering students.
