Doctors of Al-Kafeel Specialist Hospital have succeeded in removing a compressive tumor on the spinal cord of a patient in her 60s.

A medical team at Al-Kafeel Specialist Hospital announced that it had succeeded in a qualitative operation to completely remove a tumor from the back of a patient in her 60s.

A specialist in spine surgery at the hospital, the Syrian doctor, Dr. Wael Qassem, stated: “Our medical team succeeded in removing a compressive tumor on the spinal cord at the level of the dorsal vertebrae, under the monitoring of the spinal cord monitoring device, for a 62-year-old patient.”

Indicating: "The tumor caused the patient to have severe weakness in the lower limbs and lack of control over diuresis."

Dr. Qassem added, "The patient has visited many hospitals and doctors, and she has undergone a lumbar spine fixation operation."

He explained: "The doctors were diagnosing her illness by the existence of problems in the lumbar spine."

He pointed out: "When we examined her, it became clear to us through diagnostic tests that she had a tumor."

Stressing that the operation was successful, and the patient is now undergoing physical therapy, in order to fully regain her health.
