Carvings and decorations in natural wood covering the shrine's grid of Safi Safa from the inside.

The technical and engineering staffs working in the department of the manufacture of the grids and doors of the Holy Shrines at the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, have installed the Qur'anic and poetic inscriptions with their decorative strips and carvings inside the shrine's grid of Atheeb Al-Yamani known as (Safi Safa) - may God be pleased with him - in the province of Najaf, which was conducted in a very record time by the same staff.

Supervisor of carpentry works, engineer Ali Salloum, told the Al-Kafeel Network said: “It was taken into account in the woodwork inside the mausoleum's grid, the accuracy, craftsmanship and beauty. The inscriptions are composed of prophetic sayings, poetic texts and other decorative inscriptions on which Quranic verses were inscribed.”

He added: "One of the things that the committee supervising the manufacture of the grid was keen on is choosing the lines of Quranic verses and poems adorning the grid, so the most skilled calligraphers was chosen, what befits the position of this shrine master."

Salloum explained: "The woodwork from the inside was as follows:

- Decorated wooden pieces covering the knotworks (Duhnat) form inside, including the grid's door, by two pieces for each knotwork, the upper end of which is adorned by two calligraphic patterns on which some of the names of the Almighty were written.

- A poetic writing strip, which verses were placed inside decorative inscriptions, and it is from a poem by the poet Ali Al-Saffar, Deputy Secretary General of the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine. The verses were distribute around the grid from inside. The line was written by the calligraphy professor; Dr. Rawdhan Bahia.

- On top of this tape is an intermediate inscription, on which is written a hadith of the Messenger of Allah (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his family) said: “O People! Prefer Ali as he is the best of people ....” And it covered the short side on the grid's door from the inside with a length (318 cm) and height (31 cm).

As for the long internal rib of the grid from the entry side, it was written on it the hadith of the Messengerof Allah (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his family): (Ali Ibn Abi Taleb is my brother, my guardian and my successor over my nation .....) with a length of (430 cm) and a height (31 cm).

Regarding the side of the holy head, a hadtih of the Messenger of Allah (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his family) was written: (This is Ali, the best who supports me, and the best who deserves me ...) with a length of (318 cm) and a height of (31 cm).

As for the Qibla side, another hadith of the Holy Prophet (Allah's prayers be upon him and upon his family) was chosen: (Ali and the good ones of my children from him, are the smallest weight and the Qur’an is the greater weight ...) on an inscription of length (430 cm) and height (31 cm).

- Covering the grid's door with wooden decorative pieces on which it was inscribed "YA Allah", and the upper part of it was inscribed by a Quranic verse that were put inside a decorative trianglar form.

- This inscription is on top of a written script written inside decorative motifs in the space, two of which were distributed on the longitudinal ribs of the grid, and they were inscribed by a Quranic verse. As for the short ribs of the grid ad of the Qibla, there are two similar scriptures, on which is inscribed a Quranic verse.

- These works are concluded by the grid's ceiling, on which twelve-pointed star motifs were engraved, and the interior grid's lighting was distributed on them.

Burmese teak was used in the manufacture of these parts, and in the manufacture of its flooring and decorations the white oak wood was used, using manual and sometimes mechanical methods, to become entirety with engravings an artistic piece of art in harmony with the color of wood and motifs taking into account the colors and patterns of the rest of the wooden parts.

No colors or dyes were used. Rather, it was based on natural wood colors that were imported from international origins with high specifications and quality, and from its colors: white wood with its gradations, yellow, green, black, purple, red and sage, while the types of it were teak, beech, beet, cedar, and various types of oak, which have been used in accordance with special proportions and measurements prepared in advance for the accomplishment of this blessed work.
