The typical Sidr farm belonging to the holy Abbasid threshold has 6000 Sidr trees of various varieties over 70 dunums.

The Sidr [ziziphus] Model Farm is considered one of the agricultural projects adopted by the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine within the series of model farms projects, and this is due to its belief in the necessity of increasing green areas in Karbala Governorate, for the purpose of tempering and improving the atmosphere and reducing the damages of desertification, and even contributing to facilitating the spread of the cultivation of some plants and the introduction of some distinctive varieties and settling them, and making them mothers for the purpose of propagating and multiplying them to be among the Iraqi Flora in the future.
The official of the Kafeel Nurseries Group of the Ornamental, Afforestation and Fish Resources Department, Eng. Mustafa Hassan Hadi, explained to the al-Kafeel network saying: “The farm came within the plan of the General Secretariat of the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine to reclaim some lands, and made them farms specialized in producing some plants, to supplement the projects of the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine as well as the local market until achieving self-sufficiency. "
He added: "The farm was established on an area estimated at (70) dunums, in which (5608) Ziziphus trees were planted, and they were divided into five sections. Each section is marked with one of the names of As'hab al-Kisa' (peace be upon them) as follows:
The first section (the farm of the Seal of the Apostles - may Allah prayers be upon him and his family -) with an area of ​​(11) dunums, the cultivated variety in it is the Ziziphus Mauritania or the so-called Indian jujube, which is not known locally and newly introduced, as it is characterized by its fast growth and large leaves and few spines and density of flowering and abundance of nectar of its flowers, the quality of its fruits (apple - olive) and their large size, and its suitability in the atmosphere of central and southern Iraq.
The second section (The Farm of Ali Ibn Abi Talib - peace be upon him) - has an area of ​​(8) dunums, and the cultivated variety in it is Chinese jujube (Ziziphus jujube), which is a locally and well-known variety, and it is widely vegetative in Iraq by vaccination on local origins, It is distinguished by its large leaves, lack of spines, and the quality of its fruits (apple - olive) and bearing the atmosphere of central and southern Iraq.
The third section (The Farm of Fatima Al-Zahraa - peace be upon her) - has an area of ​​12 dunums, and the cultivated variety is the Ziziphus Mauritania also.
The fourth section (Farm of Imam Al-Hassan - peace be upon him) - with an area of ​​13 dunums, and the cultivated variety is the Ziziphus Mauritania.
- The fifth section (The Farm of Imam Al-Hussein - peace be upon him) - with an area of ​​12 dunums, and the cultivated variety is the Ziziphus Mauritania variety as well.
Hadi explained: "The farm was surrounded by vegetative repel belts, an inner belt and an external one, consisting of a the local ziziphus line and a line of (230) olive trees, and the last line (Eucalyptus) for each of the aforementioned sections, in addition to a line (Eucalyptus) surrounding the farm as a whole, at the rate of (2000) trees, with the planting of 50 Acacia farnesiana trees line on the front side of the farm.
Engineer Mostafa confirmed: "Most of the trees that were planted on the farm are produced by the Kafeel nurseries group, and these varieties were chosen in a way that suits the Iraqi climate and the abundance of its production and acceptability by the bees, because one of the goals of establishing this farm is to support the Kafeel apiary due to the lack of these trees in Iraq".
He added: "The farm is subject to a fertilization and control program based on the products of Khair Al-Joud Company for Modern Agricultural Technology, from fertilizers and biocides that are environmentally friendly, and watering is done with a modern mechanism, which is drip irrigation."
It is noteworthy that the farm was established in 2017 on a desert land located on the Najaf Karbala Road, and it goes within what is planned and has future plans to develop it and expand its cultivated area in successive stages.
