The cladding work of basements of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine continues

The Department of engineering projects at the Al-Abbas's(p) holy shrine announced the continuation of work in the basements of Imam al-Hussayn and Imam al-Jawad (peace be upon them), inside the Holy Courtyard of the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him), as planned by design and implementation and within the time period set for this purpose.

The head of the aforementioned Department, engineer Dia Majid al-Sa'egh, stated to Al-Kafeel Network that "the work on these two important projects is proceeding at a steady and continuous pace without stopping, and with parallel lines of work to ensure their completion as soon as possible, as the cladding work of the walls of the basements with alabaster has witnessed progress in addition to the work of cladding the ceilings with artistically cut glass".

He added that"the work currently underway in the basement of Imam al-Jawad (peace be upon him), which is located on the northern side of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine and has an area of 1000 m2, is the work of covering the walls with alabaster after the ceiling was 90% completed with artistically cut glass".

Al-Sa'egh continued, " As for the works of the basement of Imam al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) located on the western side of the Holy Shrine, specifically in the confined area between the gates of Sahib Al-Zaman and Imam al-Hassan (peace be upon them), and its area is also (1000 m2), the works of cladding the roof with glass have also achieved an advanced completion rate.

Al-Sa'egh explained that " the glass used in the cladding works is of high-quality quality and its thickness reaches (2 mm), and is characterized by its color stability and resistance to the harshest conditions, but its work takes time because it needs accuracy and craftsmanship, depending on different designs, measurements, sizes and shapes, as well as the abundance of inscriptions and their technical complexity."

"These works were preceded by no less important works, where we finished the installatio of the supporting systems for the project, electricity, communications, cameras, fire, alarm and others," Al-Sa'egh stressed.

He concluded that "the designs developed for these works took into account, in choosing their colors and shapes, the characteristic of harmony and symmetry with the architectural fabric of the Holy Courtyard and the features of the Holy Shrine as a whole, using a modern installation method".

It is noteworthy that the basements of Imam al-Hussayn and Imam al-Jawad (peace be upon them) are among the places that contributed to solving the cases of heavy traffic, which was witnessed by the holy shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him), especially in the season of the major Ziyarat, as they contributed to reducing the momentum and crowding of the female visitors in the courtyard, thanks to the location of the two basements, which are located below the holy courtyard along the inside of the Holy grid, and they were allocated for visiting women only.
