The head of the engineering projects department at the Al-abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, the Engineer Dea' Majeed Al-Sa'egh declared to the global Al-Kafeel Network, which conducted a field visit to the project site, the resumption of the project of the maintenance and gilding of the dome of the holy shrine of the Commander of the Faithful, Imam Ali Ibnu abi Talib (peace be upon them) in Najaf, where the engineering and technical staff have commenced the works of maintenance and gilding that were begun previously, according to the agreed specifications and plans. The proportion of the first phase of this project has reached more than 50%, which is the first of its kind, as they are Iraqi hands who are carrying out the works of gilding in the shrine of the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him).
Adding: "According to the agreement with the brothers in the holy shrine of Imam Ali (peace be upon him), the tiles will be in the same former measurements (24 x 24 cm), the works will include their gilding and manufacturing of new tiles in place of those damaged. And, during the process of gilding, we used gold of 24 carat, in different sizes and with a weight of eight Methqal of pure gold for each tile, which thickness is of 2mm using the best techniques in terms of lifespan, a technique of hammering on suede leather."
It is to mention that the implementation of this project is in the framework of technical cooperation between the holy shrines, it comes after the success of the technical staff of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine in the works of gilding the lighthouses of the courtyard of Aba Al-Fadl Al-Abbas (peace be upon him) and the minarets of sanctuary of Sayed Mohammed son of imam Ali Al-Hadi (peace be upon him), and after having possessed sufficient experience in this area, they have become rival if not superior to similar works executed by foreigners. The Department of engineering projects at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine continued its quest for the implementation of similar projects in the rest of the holy sites and shrines in Iraq, continuing to provide more and the best within its supporting plan to keep the international scientific and urban pace.
