The completion of the front side of the gate of Imam Al-Hassan (peace be upon him)..

The horizontal expansion project of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine has included a number of sub-projects that constitute in total the most prominent pillar of this project, as it has been centuries ago that such projects were not set up at our holy shrines. Among those sub-projects; the project of the expansion of the holy shrine's gates (main entrances), which have become embracing the old gates, doubling the sizes and renewing the Islamic carvings and decorations with artistic connotations, according the design and location of each gate, in order to accommodate a greater number of visitors and Hussayni processions entering the holy shrine.

Among these gates that have been completed recently, the gate of Imam Al-Hassan (peace be upon him), one of the main and major gates of the holy shrine, as it is overlooking the holy shrine of Imam Al-Hussayn (peace be upon him) and the main gate for the entrance of the condolences processions during the Ziyarat rituals of Ashura and Arba'een, called "The processions' entrance gate."

The Managing Director of the executing company Ard Quds company for constructions, has explained the following: "The main gates of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine is one of the projects included in the horizontal expansion project of the shrine of Aba Al-Fadl Al-Abbas (peace be upon him) executed by us and under the direct supervision of the Engineering project Department at the holy shrine. The gate of Imam Al-Hassan (peace be upon him) is one of the important gates, to which we have given special interest in terms of the design, as the execution is the same in all other gates, using fully the streaky Kashi for all the internal details of the gate with new colours with high accuracy and consistency in the inscriptions and colours. Since the area of the gate is of 130 m2, decorated with special Muqarnas on the top commensurate with the large area of this gate, which face the main area between the two holy shrines, giving to it such importance."

Adding: "The gate includes places for the ablution and was supplied with systems of electricity, lighting, cooling, fire alarm, control and other systems linked to the central system of the holy shrine. On top of this gate two transparent domes and its right and left sides, there are 12 Islamic arches similar to the arches of the sanctuary's Iwans of the holy shrine, six arches on each side, as well as the Quranic bands under these arches, on which it was inscribed Quranic verses by the most skilled Iraqi calligraphers. The gate was provided by a set of chandeliers in various sizes, forming with the rest of the lighting lamps and inscriptions, a magnificent piece of art. The gate is decorated from the top by a band on which was written "Salam 'alayka ya Ibn Ameer Al-Mo'mineen" [Peace be upon You O son of the Commander of the Faithful]."

It is to note that the General Secretariat of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine has given great attention to this project, as these gates with the other outer parts of the Quranic bands and arches and other finishing works of this project are very magnificent piece of art in term of design and implementation, as they are combining the authenticity of the old architecture of the holy shrine and the use of architectural and structural materials of high efficiency and quality by the designers who have excelled in the creativity of the implementation of this important project.
