The technical staff of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine announces the completion of the gilding project of the two minarets of the shrine of Sayed Mohammad (peace be upon him).

The head of the Engineering projects Department at the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine; Dea' Majeed al-Sa'egh has announced the completion of the second and final phase of the project of gilding the two minarets of the shrine of Sayed Mohamad son of Imam Ali Al-Hadi (peace be upon both of them), made by Iraqi hands and with high and precise technical specifications, starting from the manufacture of the tiles and its gilding up to their installation, in a better way than what is performed by the international companies.

Mr. Al-Sa'egh has added: "The opening of this project will be on Wednesday the 27th of Sha'baan 1438 AH corresponding to the 24th of May, 2017 in an inauguration ceremony that will be held in the shrine of Sayed Mohammad (peace be upon him), to be a proof that the Iraqi cadres able to design and implement such project in a record time with high specifications."

Indicating: "The gilding project of the minarets of Sayed Mohammad (peace be upon him) passed through many stages, the first phase has included gilding the upper parts of the minarets, the candle, the crown and the Muezzin's balcony with the Quranic verses from Surat al-Noor (The Light), which were manufactured all out of gold and warm enamel. The second and final phase has included the Quranic inscription that is composed of 18 copper tiles pieces plated with gold and blue enamel, the chosen verse is from Surat Al-Anbiya (The Prophets) verse 105: (وَلَقَدْ كَتَبْنَا فِي الزَّبُورِ مِن بَعْدِ الذِّكْرِ أَنَّ الْأَرْضَ يَرِثُهَا عِبَادِيَ الصَّالِحُونَ){And We have already written in the book [of Psalms] after the [previous] mention that the land [of Paradise] is inherited by My righteous servants.} written by the Iraqi calligrapher Feras Abbas, using 8 Kgs of gold in each minaret's Quranic band, surrounding it with a length of 11 m and a height of 1,40 m. This Quranic band is surrounded by two golden decorative bands, one from the top and the other from the down, and they are also inlayed with enamel. The lower band is based on a band of golden tiles."

Mr. Sa'egh has added: "This phase has included covering the two minarets with the gilded streaky Kashi Karbala'i, which is characterized by high technical specifications in terms of thickness, color stability and resistance to the weather conditions, with a height of 8.60 m, with consistent and harmonious plan inscriptions with the rest of the inscriptions of the holy shrine. The names of the infallible Imams (peace be upon them) were inscribed on each minaret, to make these minarets a consistent piece of art from the highest point to its base."

Explaining: "The gold used in these works weighed 25 kg and 2268 kg of copper that were used in the manufacture of the gold tiles that were made by the staff of the Gilding Division of the Department of Engineering Projects with the hammering technique on deer skin."

It is noteworthy that the gilding project of the shrine of Sayed Mohammad (peace be upon him) is the first project implemented outside the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine, after the success achieved in the gilding works of the minarets of the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him), and after that the working staff in the gilding field became 100% Iraqi, starting from the design and the manufacture, to the construction and the installation.
