The new look of the Iwans of the holy shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him).

After more than four months of continuous work, the sanctuary of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) is cladded now with new marble, having gone on its previous marble more than half a century, as it was cladded last time in the seventies of the last century. So this project is complementary to a series of projects carried out on the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him), which have been developed according to time and spatial plans that are suitable for each project and its specificities, such as the project of horizontal expansion and roofing of the holy shrine, as well as cladding the Iwans and basements of the holy shrine, in addition to manufacturing and installation of the holy grid, and other supporting systems of cooling, fire alarm, communications and surveillance systems, and other projects.

According to Engineer Majeed al-Sa'egh, head of the Engineering Projects Department at the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine: " The cladding process was conducted after dividing the 5400 square meters of the sanctuary's area into eight sections, and each of them consists of several parts and sections, to be cladded with alabaster, to ensure the not intersection of the works with the movement of visitors. The works start in each section after the completion of works in the previous one, respecting its specific designs and plans, with engravings and decorations in harmony with the rest sections of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine to create a symmetry state."

Al-Sa'egh indicated: "This project includes several executive work, which are:

-The removal of old marble

-The removal of the old concrete parts and repairing the damaged ones.

-Pouring concrete floor in preparation for cladding it with special concrete to help the adhesion to the old floor and to prevent moisture.

-Installing an iron mesh to be put under the concrete casting.

-Installing a ground network from water drainage networks to connections of electricity, fire and communications systems, to connect them to the holy sanctuary, and then to the main systems of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine.

-Starting the cladding work with alabaster according to the specific measurements taking into consideration the inclination degree."

It is to note that the new marble, which will be used in the cladding works, is of the type of "multi-onyx" that has been subjected to several technical and engineering tests in terms of endurance and consistency of color and thickness 4 cm, in addition to other specifications that gave beauty to these marble pieces.
