This morning, Monday (Muharram 25, 1442 AH) corresponding to (September 14, 2020), the final layer of the street leading to the Qibla gate of the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) began to be covered with asphalt by the Directorate of the Karbala Municipality in coordination and cooperation with two divisions between The Two Holy Shrines, maintenance and engineering constructions at the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, and this comes as a continuation of the series of works witnessed by this vital street.
A member of the Board of Directors of the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine, Mr. Jawad al-Hasnawi, explained to the al-Kafeel network about the nature of these works, saying: “There is high coordination and cooperation between the Holy Shrine and the Karbala Governorate and the service departments therein, including the governorate municipality directorate, which led to the implementation of a number of service works, including the asphalt works of the streets leading to the shrine of Aba Al-Fadl Al-Abbas (peace be upon him), and our staffs were the best to execute these works. And today we stand on the final stage of cladding the Qibla Gate Street to the Holy Shrine, which coincided with the ongoing preparations for Ziyarat Arba'een, as this street is one of the most important streets for the passage of visitors and condolences processions. "
The Governor of Karbala, Mr. Jassim Al-Khattabi, said: “Today, the Karbala Governorate, in coordination with the al-Abbas’s Holy Shrine, is undertaking an important work, which is to develop one of the most important entrances leading to the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him). This was preceded by works that were all in the service of the visitor and the Hussaini processions, and after that we will determine the paths for the passage of the condolences processions and the places where the service processions will be located, in a way that contributes to creating a state of flow and freedom of movement. And we hope to implement other joint projects with the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine."
Engineer Abeer Salim Nasser, director of Karbala municipality, added: “Today we have covered the final layer of this vital and important street, in coordination and joint cooperation with the staffs of the al-Abbas's holy shrine, in order to show the city’s center and the roads leading to the holy shrines in a decent appearance before the arrival of the Ziyarat Arba'een. This will be followed by a planning of traffic engineering to regulate the movement of visitors and processions, and we have a lot of work in the old city. All these works were carried out thanks to the presence and efforts of the staffs of the al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine.
It is noteworthy that Qibla Gate Street of the shrine of Aba Al-Fadl Al-Abbas (peace be upon him) has witnessed and will witness many works aimed at developing and rehabilitating it, in a way that contributes to achieving the highest levels of flow of visitors and vehicles, as it is one of the most important streets leading to the holy shrine and is witnessing intense crowding, especially in the religious occasions.
