A medical team at Al-Kafeel Hospital succeeded in removing a cancerous tumor from a child.

A medical team at Al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital of the al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine announced that it had succeeded in removing a cancerous tumor from the femur of a ten-year-old girl, while noting that this operation was preceded by one outside Iraq that was not successful.

The orthopedic and joint surgery specialist at the hospital, Dr. Mustafa Waleed, stated: "We received a ten-year-old girl suffering from a cancerous tumor spread in the thigh bone, and she underwent an operation in a foreign country to remove the cancerous bone and transplant another bone instead, but after her return to Iraq it was found that the operation that was performed on her had failed."

He added, "We performed a second operation for that girl, in which we removed the cancerous tumor from the femur, re-implanted the bone and fixed it internally," noting that: "The equipment and techniques available at Al-Kafeel Hospital helped us to perform this operation, especially the materials used in the operations of fixing complex fractures.”

Dr. Waleed explained that: "The operation took three hours and was completely successful, and the girl's health condition is stable and she has not had any complications."
