Saving a patient from paralysis at Al-Kafeel Hospital

A medical team at Al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital in Karbala saved a patient from paralysis by performing a complex qualitative operation on her spine.

"We recently succeeded in stabilizing the vertebrae, adjusting the deviation of the spine and implanting artificial cartilage, for a patient in her second decade who was suffering from severe pain in the lower extremities, with the inability to walk normally," said Iranian neurosurgeon Dr. Mohammad Zara'i.

"The patient was prone to paralysis, and the tests proved that she had multiple slips, with a severe deviation of the spine," he added, noting that "the patient left the hospital after the operation and she is healthy".

According to Zara'i, the modern and advanced technologies available in the operating theaters of Al-Kafeel hospital contributed to the success of the operation, including neural tracking technology that is used to prevent any neurological damage to the patient during surgery.
