Al-Abbas's (p) Holy Shrine announces the start of the implementation of the project to develop the center of the Old City of Karbala

The Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine announced the start of the implementation of the project to develop the center of the Old City of Karbala, by laying the engineering and architectural foundations of the project.

The Secretary-General of the holy shrine; Sayed Mustafa Murtadha Dea al-Din, said, "the holy shrine administration held a meeting today with the governor of the holy city of Karbala, engineer Nassif al-Khattabi, in order to start implementing the project of developing the center of the Old City of Karbala, as the phase begins through the expansion project surrounding the holy shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him), represented by the establishment of the Umm Al-Baneen (peace be upon her) courtyard on the northern side of the holy shrine, and the large Qibla courtyard of the shrine of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) from the southern side of the holy shrine, to provide the largest spaces to receive visitors arriving to Karbala, in the major Ziyarat and Ziyarat of Thursday nights".

"There is great coordination and cooperation between the administration of the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine and the province of Karbala, as engineering and architectural plans were prepared earlier and approved by the relevant ministries," he added.

For his part, the head of the Engineering Projects Department at the holy shrine, engineer Dia al-Sa'egh, confirmed that "the project to develop the center of the holy city of Karbala has entered into force, as two large courtyards will be erected in the city center, one at the Qibla gate of Aba al-Fadl al-Abbas (peace be upon him) and the other is the courtyard of Umm Al-Baneen (peace be upon her) on an area of ten thousand square meters and two floors.

"During today's meeting with the concerned departments in the city of Karbala in the presence of the governor, the directors of the departments expressed their readiness to remove all obstacles from the infrastructure, such as communication lines, electricity, pipes of water, sewage and rain," he said.

For his part, the governor of Karbala, engineer Nassif al-Khattabi, said that "the projects carried out by the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine to expand the holy sanctuary require a pause from the federal government and great support for their completion, especially the courtyards of Umm Al-Baneen (peace be upon her) and the Qibla gate of al-Abbas (peace be upon him), in service of the holy city and its visitors".

He explained that" the Al-Abbas's (p) holy shrine is making great efforts through these expansion projects, "stressing that"the province of Karbala supports the projects of the holy shrine with all its means".
