Correction of severe spinal deviation in a 12-year-old child

A medical team at Al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital in Karbala succeeded in correcting a severe deviation in the spine of a 12-year-old child, while the team demonstrated the importance of the technologies available in the hospital's operating theaters and their role in the success of the operation.

The specialist of Neurosurgery, the Iranian Dr. Mohammad Zarei, told The News Center that our team succeeded in cutting and stabilizing the vertebrae and adjusting the deviation of the spine of a 12-year-old child, which is one of the difficult operations that requires special capabilities.

Zarai added that the deviation was diagnosed by radiological examinations, as well as a clinical examination of the child, who suffered from weakness in the upper and lower limbs and difficulty in moving normally, pointing out that during the operation, the deviation was modified and artificial cartilage was implanted, and that the modern technologies available in the operating theaters have an important role in our work, including neural tracking technology that is used to prevent neurological damage to the patient as a result of the operation.
