Al-Kafeel Hospital successfully removes a tumor from a patient's brain without the need for general anesthesia

A medical team at Al-Kafeel Super Speciality Hospital has successfully removed a tumor from the brain without the need for general anesthesia for the patient.

The specialist of spinal surgery at the hospital, the Lebanese doctor Omar al-A'war, said that "the patient's operation was performed in an awake state and without general anesthesia, while remaining conscious throughout the operation, stressing "we succeeded in removing the tumor without any complications".

He added that"the location of the tumor was complicated, as it was located between the main nerves responsible for the movement of the lower limbs, and this required keeping the patient conscious during access to remove, in order to monitor the nerves and make sure that they work normally and limb movement is not damaged".

The surgeon explained that "local anesthesia was used only to anesthetize the skin layer and the outer covering of the brain, and the operation was carried out as planned, during which no complications occurred in the patient, pointing out that"the most important factors for the success of the operation is the availability of modern technologies in the hospital.
