The delegation of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) of the United Nations was briefed on the efforts of the Al-Abbas's (p) Shrine in the field of assistance to the displaced in Iraq, during the delegation's meeting with the members of the board of Directors of the holy shrine, namely, Mr. Kadhem Abdul Hussein and Mr. Jawad Al-Hasnawi, in addition to the head of the public relations department, Mr Mohammed Ali Azhar.

A member of the board of Directors of the Al-Abbas's (p) Shrine, human rights activist Kadhem Abdul Hussein, said that "the UN delegation headed by the director of the Rapid Response Office of the organization, has been briefed on the efforts of the Al-Abbas's (p) Shrine and its positions in the field of assistance to the displaced in Iraq, especially during the days of the war against the terrorist organization of ISIS, where the Shrine made great efforts to shelter displaced Iraqi citizens and those forced to leave their homes, as a result of the war with the terrorist organization".

"The delegation also got acquainted with the persistent and humanitarian recommendations of the Supreme Religious Authority, His Eminence Ali al-Sistani, and the directives of the Senior Official of the Al-Abbas's (P) Shrine regarding assistance to the displaced in various regions of Iraq, and the need to provide a helping hand to them in various circumstances,"he added.

"The UN delegation witnessed a quick presentation of the various assistance provided by the Al-Abbas's (p) Shrine to the displaced Iraqis, in addition to its assistance to the wounded and injured members of the security forces during the past years,"Abdul Hussein said.

The member of the board of Directors of the Al-Abbas's (p) Shrine pointed out that "the UN delegation expressed its admiration for the continuous efforts provided by the Al-Abbas's (p) Shrine in order to serve the community and its millions of visitors annually, as well as the delegation listened to a detailed explanation of the projects of the Al-Abbas's (p) Shrine in educational, agricultural and investment fields".
